Let's Beat This Cancer
Hello, my name is Dallas Greeson and here is my story. In May of 2023, as part of transferring to a new job, withing the Police Department, I needed a current physical on file. I went and took my physical, and after several weeks found out that my physical showed I had an autoimmune disorder that caused constant inflammation in my body called Ankylosing Spondylitis. My auto immune disorder affected my eyesight and constant inflammation in my spine because I possessed a certain gene. This involved many of doctors’ visits and testing.
Further examination of my job-related-physical showed an issue with my right lung. I followed up with my primary care doctor who took this seriously based on my family history. My mother passed away at 34 years old due to cancer, and my primary care doctor knew that cancer ran in my family.
She ordered a cat scan that showed a mass in my lung. I had PET scan and a biopsy to ensure the diagnosis was accurate and it came back with what I had feared. I was diagnosed with lung cancer and was estimated to be at a stage 2. Stage 2 is still very early and my prognosis, at this point, my recovery looks hopeful. This testing also has caused a myriad of medical expenses that were unforeseen.
As part of my treatment, I need to have surgery on October 26, 2023. My surgery involves removing half of my lung and lymph nodes. As a result of all these medical expenses and being out of work for many months, I will lose a lot of pay. I have no living family to help me out. I am single parent with one income supporting two teenage boys.
Before my diagnosis, most people know I picked up as many side jobs as I could to support my family. With not being able to work, my financial situation will suffer severely. It pains me to ask for help since I am very independent, but any amount will help pay these medical bills while I am out of work.
Thank you,
