BTWN MUTUAL AID FUND FOR BLACK MODELS
BTWN MUTUAL AID FUND FOR
BLACK MODELS
Between COVID-19 shutting down most modeling work and the public health crisis that is systemic violence against Black people, we have decided to set up a mutual aid fund to help support Black members of the Btwn family during this particularly trying time.
Black models are quoted lower rates than their white/non-black peers, are tokenized, given less opportunity due to lack of casting roles that apply to them in comparison to white/non-black roles, and forced to deal with complete disregard on sets such as: hair and makeup teams lack of consideration for textured hair and skin tones/undertones. Stand in solidarity with our models by redistributing resources to those who are working hard to change industry standards while battling outright racism at work.
This fund will be equally distributed to the Black models and team members of Btwn Mgmt that decide to opt in. Consider donating if you are in a position of privilege, if your income has not been affected by COVID-19, if you would like to support our Black models and creators that make this platform/agency possible, and if the body positivity movement has helped your own journey and you would like to pay it forward to Black women/femmes/non-binary people for pioneering it. Please share this initiative if you are unable to donate at this time.
Our initial goal is an ambitious one of
$10,000. That would put at least a few hundred dollars in the pockets of each of our affected Btwn family members. We hope it can be surpassed and relieve as much economic insecurity as possible for those feeling the heavy weight of loss of income.
