Bubba's Medical costs.
Hi, My name is Jessie Stephenson. I am Bubba's Daughter. My siblings and I are creating this go fund me looking for help . Dad's story is below.
On Wednesday, Dad took me for a procedure at the hospital. I noticed he wasn't quite able to get the words he wanted to say out quite right,, and that he wasn't remembering things correctly. On the way home,, his pcp called and Dad was diagnosed with Melanoma on his back from which he had a biopsy the previous week.
Thursday, dad wasn't answering his phone.. turned out he left it in the car all night.. which he NEVER does.. we finally spoke with him around 430 which is when we really realized things still weren't adding up. I was able to get ahold of his pcp who suggested we bring him in the next day. The MA at the office also noticed that dad was not remembering the things he was told correctly.
Friday morning.. We went to the pcp "Dr Ben" ... Dr Ben, did a neurological test on him which he did not score well on. He ordered some tests to rule out tumors on his brain, and a stroke. I was able to get the Mri Ordered for that afternoon.
At the MRI, they noticed something on his brain. So they wanted to order another MRI this time with contrast for better images and to know what was going on. That was ordered for Monday.
When we got to the imaging place Monday, the fact that he might be allergic to the MRI contrast came up. The radiologist did not want to do the test out of fear of an allergic reaction. We got the test changed to a CT scan with contrast, but dad was so dehydrated we couldn't get a vein to give the IV contrast. While we waited for him to drink a bunch of water and get hydrated, I started to notice that he was having a hard time holding things in his right hand. That his face was dropping a lot! His speech was slurred and when he walked, his foot dragged. I spoke with his PCP and the radiologist there and they both suggested we take him around the corner to the ER.
At the ER they did the CT with contrast which again shows something on his brain.
He was then transferred Shands Hospital in Gainsville. After spending 5 days there and almost every test you can think of including a biopsy on his brain, he has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioma.
We are waiting on a game plan currently from his providers. We are hoping for the best of course, but preparing for any outcome that may arise.
We are creating this fundraiser, with the intention of his future care. Any medical or daily care that may come up. So many have already donated privately, and if you wish to do that instead of on here I will post a picture with the links for all the other common money transferring apps.
Dad has always been a very strong and very proud man that wont ask for help, yet he has helped so many. His children are now asking you to help him
