Infoflow Studio Set
Blair Network Communications is a student run media production team comprised of nearly seventy Blair students. We provide the Montgomery Blair community with important daily updates on school events, activities, community opportunities, weather reports, world news, and sports coverage.
Four years ago, Mr. Mayo became the new supervisor of the BNC program and he constructed the current InfoFlow set from a mix of donated set pieces and the backdrop he built with a friend. During his tenure as supervisor, the program has blossomed into an application based program of roughly seventy students each year plus many regular volunteers. BNC hasn't missed a day of producing its daily news show, InfoFlow, in these four years, and has recently expanded to incorporate departments such as SilverLens, BNC Online, and BNC Business. From our documentary series, SilverLens, to our online platforms to the daily news, content production in BNC revolves around the studio.
Unfortunately, our set is nearing the end of its utility for BNC and needs to be replaced. The anchor desk and set backdrop are extremely flimsy. As Mr. Mayo likes to say, they're one push away from collapsing. Our teleprompter system relies on connections between several iPads, which has proven unreliable. Therefore, we are looking to raise $13,000 to build a brand new InfoFlow studio set so that our students can continue to take advantage of the unique opportunity of BNC's various programs and produce content at a higher level. This money will be used to purchase a sturdy anchor desk with a custom logo, a new backdrop with additional lighting and green screen capabilities, and a fully functional teleprompter system, each of which will last through the foreseeable future. As an additional benefit, the new set will be completely mobile, making it far easier for building services to clean our beloved space in the summertime. Our current set cannot be moved.
We are already $5,000 towards our goal. We raised this money though a combination of grants and award money over the last year and a half. Please help us reach our goal of $7,000 by donating to the BNC GoFundMe page. It is our hope to have this new set in place by the start of next school year so that we can continue to provide the Blair community with important content.
From the 67 hardworking students of BNC, Mr. Mayo, and Montgomery Blair High School, thank you!
