Bucktown Mutual Aid COVID-19
Donation protected
Bucktown Mutual Aid is a group of neighbors that have come together to support each other during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Assembled through the Chicago Mutual Aid Volunteer Sign-Up form, we are one of many mutual aid groups all over Chicago that are working to support our neighbors through this crisis.
Currently, we are working to sew masks, check-in on individuals who may not be able to access food and supplies, outreach for more volunteers, and building a network to mobilize quickly as needs come up.
Many of the requests we have begun receiving are from neighbors who are unable to work because of health issues or layoffs and are concerned about making rent and other bills and essential needs. While we acknowledge we likely cannot pay everyone's rent in full, we would like to offer anyone who needs help up to $200 to meet their needs. Along with this, we are also offering support in helping individuals negotiate more time or reduced rent with their landlords if needed.
This fund is available for anyone in the neighborhood who asks, there is no vetting process, as long as funds are available, they will be given--no questions asked. Bucktown Mutual Aid reserves the right to redistribute portions of funds raised to other Chicago neighborhood mutual aid programs if there are more pressing needs in those communities.
Individuals who need funds can also visit our website https://www.bucktownmutualaid.org and request funds from this campaign, or from other donors directly if they have already received support from this campaign.
