Bucky Baker & Elaine Stogan House Fire Recovery

Hello! My name is Kanani Nahanee, I am the niece of Alroy “Bucky” Baker & Elaine Stogan, their son Timothy Stogan is my cousin-brother. Elaine Stogan is from Musqueam Nation and Bucky Baker is from the Squamish Nation.

Bucky & Elaine have been married for 37 years, the 3 have lived a happy life together on Capilano reserve.

I am humbly asking our family & friends to come together to help our family in need.

On the morning of Sunday November 6th, 2022, Bucky experienced every husband/father’s worst nightmare when he returned home and found his family home on fire, with his wife Elaine still inside. Thankfully Elaine was rescued by firefighters, and was immediately rushed to Vancouver General Hospital to be treated for internal burns and smoke inhalation. Elaine remains in ICU in stable condition. Timothy was at work at the time of the fire, he and his father are safe with no physical injuries. They’ve been at Elaine’s side everyday.

The top level of the family home has been completely burned down and needs full renovation. The family has lost all their of personal belongings on the top level, which is where the bedrooms, kitchen, and living room are located. Both Bucky & Timothy are staying in a hotel until the home renovations are completed.

Alroy “Bucky” has recently retired from many years of service to the Squamish Nation as a language teacher and councillor. Timothy has taken time off work (unpaid) to be with his parents. They’ve both been at Eliane’s side everyday day, with lots of support from both the Musqueam & Squamish Nations/families.

all funds raised will be used to replaced all personal/home items lost in the fire, and support with food and bills during this time. Any amount is appreciated.
