This fundraiser is set up to help offset the cost of medical expenses, travel (gas), hotel cost and food, Brandon being the only family financial support, taking 2-3 months off on family medical leave.

Hello, the family of Bucky Greunke truly appreciate you taking a moment to read our story. Bucky’s family set this page up to help little Bucky, Brandon and Anna Greunke (mom and dad) with expenses which are going to occur due to Bucky having a liver transplant on July 19, 2023 at Stanford Hospital.

Brandon and Anna are a loving couple who have made a home in Patterson Ca, raising 3 children. Three years ago after giving birth to their 3rd child Brandon and Anna notice that Bucky was jaundice and something was not right. After several trips to the doctors, test, hospital stays little Bucky was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia- a rear disease of the liver and bile ducts. With no cure he went into surgery for a Kasai procedure (which is not a cure) but will buy time before he would need a liver transplant.

Throughout Bucky’s short life he has been in and out of Stanford hospital dealing with the medical complications of biliary Atresia.

Bucky’s liver is not functioning correctly and he is having a lot of bleeding. – So it has come to the time that he needs a liver transplant. Bucky has been on a list for a liver transplant, with no luck of a donor. Stanford has reached out for living donors. Several family members have tested and Anna (mom) has come back as a match.

Moving forward, Anna (mom) is going to be the live donor, donating a part of her liver. (The gift of life) Surgery is set for July 19. Dad, mom and Bucky will be staying in a hotel the night before the surgery. Day of surgery Anna will be in one part of the hospital, where they will remove a piece of her liver, and send it to another part of the hospital where Bucky and the transplant team will begin the liver transplant. Brandon will be staying with Bucky during, after and in ICU isolation for the upcoming weeks. Anna (mom) will be in the hospital recovering from her surgery, hoping to be with Bucky within that week. Due to Anna being a patient, recovering from surgery, her doctor wants her to stay in close by the hospital for 30 days after her surgery (Which she will be anyway). Brandon and Anna will have to get a hotel room in the area for that month for Anna’s recovery and being close to Bucky. (Dad and mom or both of them will always be with Bucky 24/7). The hotel stay and extra expenses for Anna are not covered by their insurance. Stanford does have hotel discounts of $170.00 a night.

The journey for the Greunke family is a long one, they will be staying close to the hospital for up to 3 months, for Bucky will be checked often during his recovery. (When Bucky is released from the hospital they are hoping to stay in the Ronald McDonald house)

Along with money- Prays would greatly be needed, the long road ahead for Bucky’s recovery and the emotional/financial stressors on Brandon and Anna and their 2 other beautiful children.
