Buda's Brightside Building Roots Fund

Buda's Brightside is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves adults with developmental disabilities. Buda's Brightside has been in the Central Texas community for 15+ years. Buda's Brightside was started by a parent and, as she retired, has been turned over to the board and become a federal and state-designated nonprofit. Buda's Brightside serves clients from Buda, Kyle, Wimberly, Dripping Springs, South Austin, San Marcos and surrounding areas. Buda's Brightside aims to empower adults with developmental disabilities through expanded social experiences while utilizing community inclusion, educational development and social enrichment.

As most nonprofits, we run on charitable donations and volunteer time commitments. Our most significant expenditures are operations, including our rent. The owner wants to sell the building to the nonprofit at a fair value. If you live in Central Texas, you understand real estate's value anywhere around Austin, Texas.

The service that Buda's Brightside provides is more than a day hab. My 30-year-old son with Autism attends this dayhab. The social and communication skills he acquires and retains while doing the things he loves are priceless. Christina Treviño, as the Director/CEO, amplifies the mission statement of utilizing community inclusion. The clients she calls "friends" are out and about in the community. They have field trips and weekly and monthly outings.

Buda's Brightside has made many friends and built relationships with our local businesses and community agencies. We are an integral part of the community, and now we need your help to root ourselves here. Purchasing real estate is a commitment of Buda's Brightside long-term strength and its commitment to achieving mission goals and meeting strategic objectives.

The plan is to purchase the property and seek grants to upgrade the existing building. It is a very humble but loving abode that provides for the basic needs of our friends. The place offers stimulation, a safe haven, a meeting place for friends, affirmation, and nurturing. Buda's Brightside provides our friends a place to be productive and a place to feel secure in their mental and emotional well-being. The location is more than mortar and bricks. It is a sanctuary for our friends.
