The goal of this fundraiser is give Buddhi and Hap a few months of breathing room while they wait for groundwater and land toxicity tests to come back. The tests are important for knowing whether the plastic and chemicals in their well, irrigation, and solar systems have infiltrated the aquifer. The results of these tests will determine whether and how they are able to rebuild and farm the land again, but can't even be initiated until after the dry season is over and the first rains have hit.

They hope to invite many people to join the rebuilding effort after this initial period and intend to organize work parties, barn raisings, and futher fundraisers.

I had the fortune of visiting them on their land twice, once in January of this year and again in May. It was a beautiful place full of magic, artisan cob-constructed buildings, orchards, gardens, and a very clear presence of the spirit of friendship, community, and generosity.

Buddhi and Hap were also two of the critical organizers that made Vibecamp happen (you may remember their teahouse). 400 of you came to Vibecamp. If just half that number each gave only $50 we'd hit our goal instantly. However, 10k is simply a suggested floor rather than a ceiling.
