Buddy for Brayden

Brayden has finally received medical clearance to have a service dog!!! We have been pursuing treatment out of state for his allergies and are ready for the next step - everyone shudder with me - fundraising.  The goal seems impossible to us, but the benefits of a service animal for Brayden will be priceless and is something that we simply [MUST] make happen. The cost of the service dog is $15,000. We will also have to commute to Joplin to train and bond with the dog which will require overnight trips. BUT! The training facility will allow us to train with and take our dog once we place a deposit and then we will make *interest free* payments of $300/month for the next 2 years! This is a huge help as we no longer have to wait for the full amount. *** Our goal is $5000*** A very *few* of the numerous ways a service animal will help Brayden thrive daily: *Deep pressure therapy at any time of distress will help greatly diminish the anxiety brayden experiences in uncertain environments. *Trailing will add security in the event that Brayden gets distressed and bolts or wanders. *Blocking will give Brayden control over his personal space in any circumstance which will also greatly diminish his anxiety in uncontrollable environments. *Companionship is an indescribable benefit of service animals. Often, Autistic individuals feel so alone trying to navigate a world not designed for them; his service animal will be far more than a family pet. It will be a specific source of comfort for a kid who is constantly uncomfortable; a buddy who doesnt hesitate or act unsure, a listening ear that doesnt care if his words are working or not, someone that doesnt have the capacity to judge... an unconditional friendship has worth beyond words.
