17th Infantry Assoc. Monument Move

Donation protected
The 17th Infantry Regiment has one of the longest historical lineages in the U.S. Army and has served with great honor and distinction in all U.S. wars since 1812.  In 2005, the Regimental Association dedicated a monument at the National Infantry Museum (NIM) in Ft Benning, Georgia, in order to recognize the contributions and sacrifices of our WWII and Korean War veterans.  Since then, the NIM has relocated to a new and more prominent site in Columbus, Georgia. The NIM is Georgia’s and the U.S. Army museum system’s most highly rated attraction.  However, the 17th Infantry Regiment monument remains on Sacrifice Field at Ft Benning.  The Regimental Association needs your support to move the life-sized brass Buffalo monument to a reserved location on the Walk of Honor at the new NIM.  Moving the Buffalo will require the procurement of a location and remodeling of the existing monument.  By helping us move this monument to a more deserving and conspicuous location at the new NIM, we can continue to recognize the contributions of the great and venerable US Army Infantry Regiment - “Truth and Courage.”
