Bugbee Flood Recovery Fund

 On February 22, 2018, our dear friends had their world turned upside down. A young family with a one-year-old, Nick and Katie Bugbee had been enjoying life in their recently purchased first home. But then at 7pm Wednesday evening, water from the Saint Joseph River reached the front door. By morning, their little home had filled with nearly two feet of water. Nick, with help from some friends and family members, was able to save many of the family's belongings. But the house itself is another story.

Originally, the plan was to lift the house from its foundation and build a new, higher one, but after consulting several local agencies, the Bugbees have decided the best course of action is to leave the house on its current foundation and invest their resources into renovating the interior of their home. The water destroyed their kitchen cabinets and appliances, flooring throughout the house, drywall and insulation.  Some electrical work will also be completed while the walls are open.  Unfortunately, insurance will not cover these expenses.

Herbie and several others have volunteered to rebuild the home. The money raised through this campaign will cover expenses for replacing kitchen cabinets and appliances, new floorinng throughout the home, new electrical, insulationa and drywall, as well as any needed  inspections.

There will undoubtedly be additional costs down the road, such as building materials and replacing lost household items, but the current goal will enable the team of volunteers to get started on rebuilding the house. This is the critical first step to helping the Bugbee family begin rebuilding their life. Thank you for joining us as we walk along side the Bugbees during this most difficult time.
