Build a Temple to the Divine Mother in Portugal

My background

I've been a holistic healer since 1995, offering sessions in my rented homes in Bristol, Leominster, Bath and on my canal boat in the UK. I've lived in Sintra, Portugal since May 2021, having obtained Portuguese residency just before Brexit (see image above). For years, my dream has been to live in a community (multiple occupancy rather than living together) where we can hold retreats.

Last summer at an Osho festival, after a life-changing day of breathwork and Kundalini activation, I participated in a blindfolded trance dance. I felt touched by Osho, Isis and Owl medicine. To my surprise, I was shown a vision of a round, dome structure and directed to build it here in Portugal. It will be a healing centre used for multiple holistic therapies by different facilitators under the name - Kundalini Rose Garden - a healing temple dedicated to the Divine Mother.

Update: I just received a spiritual name - Karishma - from Amma (an avatar and embodiment of the Divine Mother). It means 'Miracle'! (Immediately afterwards I saw 2 owls hopping in a circle with their beaks entwined , outside the meditation hall) She initially chose the name Bhagvati meaning 'Divine Mother' for me, then changed it to Karishma.

Kundalini Rose Garden

Kundalini is the mystical awakening of our dormant spiritual energy from the base of our spine, rising in a serpentine movement, opening us to meeting the divine within. The rose is the flower with the highest vibration of love, plus it has thorns for protection and piercing truth.

Why the Divine Mother?

This was simply what I was directed to create: a temple dedicated to the Divine Mother. I suppose that after centuries of patriarchal domination and war, we need to revere and be guided by more influence from the feminine, so as to bring back balance and harmony with the earth. This is certainly not about exclusion of the masculine. On a cosmic level, the feminine principle actually contains everything, including the light of masculine consciousness - for all things are born of woman. We all contain masculine and feminine, no matter which gender we are.

Envision this:

Hempcrete and wooden structures combined with a well-ventilated geodesic dome with an earth floor - built with feng shui design, sacred geometry and geomantic harmony. A portal for deep healing, transformation, magic, ceremony and inner alchemy. The garden will be a home for honey bees, birds, a rose garden, cacti, olives and the production of flower-power potions.

Part of the purpose of this centre will be a safe sanctuary and creative cauldron for women, as well as being open to all for healing. With simple accommodation, it can also host residential groups for retreats and training courses.

Location

I love Sintra, but it's pricey and developed, so imagine the location of the land will be further inland, yet not too far from an airport - I am open to grace and synchronicity for guidance. I am calling in the perfect, magical site for this dream to come true - combining beauty, water, trees, views, fertile land, community and accessibility.

Residents and Neighbours

Those who are drawn to be caretakers, guardians, priestesses/gardeners of the temple and deeply involved may potentially live close by or build a home on-site (with our own funds), depending on available space and building regulations. We all need our own personal residential homes and will have different budgets and needs. The latest good idea I am learning about, is setting up a legal Co-operative.

Team

I already know a Portuguese architect who can make sure everything is legally sound, a close friend who builds houses with wood and hemp and other useful contacts such as friends who have already built and lived at retreat centres and communities who can offer guidance, from the wisdom of their experiences.

Destiny

As someone who has healed from deep trauma, turning wounds into gifts, I am passionate about facilitating this for others, and know that I am not alone. I am also passionate about feng shui, geomancy and sacred space, so this will be a labour of love. Are you longing to find a project to fulfil your destiny in community? a) Donors - Thank you for your support - every contribution, share and message of support help.

b) Guardians/residents - the core founders at the heart of the project, united by trust, shared values, similar visions and compatibility. We will draw up clear agreements, with transparency accountability and fairness. The time of the lone wolf is over! Multiple occupancy is a way to choose your neighbours yet not get bogged down in the politics of communities.

c) Temple enthusiasts - people who are passionate about creating, gathering and 'working' in sacred space.

d) Collaborators - builders, architects, gardeners, permaculturists and WOOFERS.

e) Advisors - on purchasing land, building a retreat, running a harmonious community, legal/financial matters and project management.

More details will be clearly drawn up as the whole vision and budget becomes a solid business plan, with specific benefits for donations. I will also be able to reveal the rest of the team in this community of trusted friends and this dialogue will shift from 'I' to 'We' as a co-created vision and plan. For now we are calling in the perfectly magical place for our homes and to build a community temple.
