Build a desperately needed medical clinic

Tax deductible
The mission of the Friends of Oroko Village is to offer a helping hand to the people of Oroko, a remote village in Guinea, West Africa, by working to establish and ensure access to high-quality, sustainable health services.

Oroko has no medical facilities, no electricity (except a few lights), no sanitation systems, no one in the village has a car, and the nearest hospital is far away - thus many people suffer from lack of treatment for infectious diseases such as Malaria, HIV/AIDS – and non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer are on the rise. Maternal and child health is a major concern - many women die during childbirth.

Through collaborating with Oroko local, Mamady "Wadaba" Kourouma - nicknamed "The Great Panther" because of his powerful sound on the djembe drum - who became the primary apprentice of the legendary djembe master Famoudou Konaté

as well as several other collaborators including Alan Tauber, Nancy Browne, Mindy Rowan, Carla Pomprowicz, Bolokada Conde, and Gerhard Simonetti, we have started Friends of Oroko Village - a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization - to be the major catalyst for ensuring that all in the village have access to sustainable health services. We have recently built a well and water tower that will provide water for construction and fresh water for washing hands and instruments and linen and for a shower in the medical clinic.
