Help Provide Housing and Mentorship for a Homeless Young Couple Expecting a Baby
My name is Anthony Bradley, and I am the sponsor of this couple as well as the executor of their estate during this transitional program as we work to get them out of homelessness. I have known Jay for about six months, and we are actively working to secure stable housing for him and his family.
I will be working closely with the couple over the next several months. As executor, I have been charged with handling this account and their expenses. During this time, I will be paying their bills as we establish residency and employment for them.
We urgently need your support to help a 21-year-old man (Jay P.) and his 20-year-old pregnant girlfriend(Bri, due in April) find stability and guidance. The couple wants to get married as soon as possible, but they lack the necessary paperwork to do so at the moment due to parental neglect. I'm not posting their pictures because Anna has an ex-boyfriend who has threatened violence.
Their Story:
I met Jay one day in June of 2024 because he skateboarded right into me and I immediately recognized that he was homeless. I met Bri a few months later in a parking lot near a bridge where she's been sleeping.
The young man (Jay P.) is homeless, escaping a family plagued by addiction, neglect, and physical abuse. He became homeless due to a home that was condemned by the city because of a fire. His mother is a drug addict, but her crack-addict boyfriend doesn't want Jay around, so they are staying with his mother, leaving Jay on the street. Since the summer, he's been sleeping under a bridge. Jay has a job offer from FedEx. The problem: he has no ID, address, birth certificate, or SSN, and no transportation to reach the warehouse 6 miles from downtown in the suburbs. Public transportation doesn’t go there, so he can’t start working just yet. He longs for stability and guidance to make wise life decisions.
The young woman (Bri) has no stable housing and faces rejection from her father, despite being five months pregnant. Her father lives with a girlfriend who has physically assaulted Anna and refused to let Bri back in the house. A survivor of sexual assault in a shelter, she seeks a safe, loving environment as she prepares for motherhood.
The Need:
We are seeking to provide temporary housing and life-coaching through this critical period—ideally until their baby’s birth and a few months postpartum until June of 2024.
How the Funds Will Be Used:
Rent (8 months at $995/month): $7,960
Utilities (average $150/month for 8 months): $1,200
Groceries and Household Supplies ($300/month for 8 months): $2,400
Transportation (public transit or gas, $100/month for 8 months): $800
Personal/Healthcare Essentials ($50/month for 8 months): $400
Baby Supplies (diapers, clothing, etc., $50/month for 8 months): $400
Savings or Unexpected Costs: $1,840
Total: $15,000
