Ayurveda Clinic Panchakarma Centre in the Dominican Republic

Donation protected
Hi!
I'm Kyra, I'm a Naturopathic Dr practicing ayurveda for 15 years and now re-certified to practice Ayurvedic and Panchakarma therapies. Ayurveda & Panchakarma are an ancient science of mind-body detoxification and rejuvenation that alleviates the burden of chronic illness, clears the mind of emotional stress and anxiety and rejuvenates the cells and tissues of the body using natural, traditional and time-tested methods.

I have been living with my family and working with Ayurvedic Medicine in the Dominican Republic for 15 years whilst slowly building up a holistic retreat centre named Ki-Ra on the South Coast.

I am aspiring to raise 60k to build and run an authentic, fully equipped Ayurveda & Panchakarma center here in the Dominican Republic. This center has the intention of offering both daily clinic style services founded on ayurvedic practices as well as full Panchakarma treatment programs for longer stays.

I am looking for donors and am offering for you to receive Ayurvedic treatments here at Ki-Ra or to come and stay in return for your donations. If you are interested in making a larger donation, please get in touch so that we can talk about how you can invest in your or someone else's health in a more formal way.

Ayurveda is a 5000 yr old system of living that originated in ancient India and continues to this day being practiced in many countries across the Globe. Ayurveda views health as an integrated science of living in harmony with nature and with your own essential nature. It incorporates many practices that range from how to eat according to your constitution and to daily schedules, activities and exercises that best suit you, lifestyle practices that help keep your mind calm and clear as well as a whole range of treatments that help you come back to balance should you be feeling 'unwell'. Ayurveda covers every aspect of living that you can think of and has an established methodology to help you find true health. Panchakarma is one of the specific treatment programs that ayurveda offers, and alongside a daily ayurveda clinic (which will benefit locals and tourists alike) a Panchakarma center opens up the possibility to offer healing treatment programs for longer periods of time and for helping people deal in a a natural way with chronic diseases of all natures. This go fund me aims to raise the money for both.

Panchakarma is an Ayurvedic healing process which detoxifies the body and mind profoundly, using many varieties of herbal oil massages, rubs, steam baths and mind-calming treatments alongside diet, meditation and movement practices.

Here are a few of the ayurvedic treatments offered in Panchakarma:
'This is shirodhara (both detoxifying and rejuvenating) one of the many treatments in this process, where oil is poured continuously on the forehead to relieve anxiety, stress, memory loss, headaches, some skin diseases and mental agitation.' It is profoundly relaxing.

This is a 'Nasya' treatment which is used for relieving congestion, headaches, mental disorders, paralysis, some types of pain and some skin diseases.

'Pizichil' is a speciality ayurvedic treatment where warm medicated oils are poured all over the body by 1-2 therapists rhythmically for 60 mins. This treatment is used in rheumatic diseases like arthritis, paralysis, hemipléjica, nervous disorders, nerve injuries and vigour. It is amazing!

Once the body is fully detoxified, the process continues with a total rejuvenation program using techniques based in herbal oil therapies both internally and externally alongside a nourishing and replenishing diet, movement and meditation practices.

For example: 'This is me receiving Kativasti, a rejuvenating oil treatment for the lower back which helps to strengthen and rejuvenate herniated or degenerated discs and reduces back pain.'

Panchakarma may seem similar to receiving spa treatments (approx 2.5hrs a day), but it is actually a fairly rigorous process both physically and mentally and lasts between 2 - 4 weeks depending on how chronic your health condition is. It is pleasant yet very deeply healing at a cellular and energetic level.

I have just returned from India where a group of 8 of us received Panchakarma treatment and, for most, the results were truly astounding. We experienced a huge improvement in various chronic conditions, a completely detoxified and rejuvenated body and mind and revitalised energy and vitality.

These were my therapists who treated me every day for 3 weeks with so much love and dedication...

So I return freshly detoxified, rejuvenated, re-trained and ready to offer Ayurveda programs and Panchakarma therapies here in the DR!

It has always been my desire to offer a complete natural health solution for people here in the Dominican Republic, and this style of natural healing can be very accessible to everyone. It has similarities to the local Dominican folklore in terms of plants and herbs that are available, but it is much more profound and scientific than folklore, going much further than only herbal medicine.

A full fledged ayurvedic clinic with a Panchakarma centre is a way for me to round out the existing holistic offer that we have at Ki-Ra and to offer another reason for local Dominicans and foreigners to come and experience the outstanding nature and beauty of this country.

It is also my desire to show people that there are natural ways to help heal chronic conditions that are extremely effective as well as nourishing to receive.

Ayurveda and Panchakarma are a way to do this in the most natural way, giving back to the environment by cultivating the plants needed for treatments, medicines and foods in a holistic way. In this way ayurveda also helps grow the wisdom of sustainability in nature and aims to give back to nature.

The DR has the perfect climate to grow all the plants we need to make the medicines and oils used in Panchakarma, and the DR is much closer to the Americas than India, making it an ideal location to receive this type of treatment for people from anywhere in the Americas.

We already have beautiful land on the south coast in the DR, where we grow a large number of Ayurvedic plants and have comfortable rooms where people can stay should they come for longer than 1 day.

This is an ideal place for healing and rejuvenation and we will use your donations to extend one of our existing rooms into a Panchakarma treatment centre with:
2 treatment rooms
A steam bath space
A medicine and oils preparation space
All the Panchakarma equipment (Dhroni massage table, shirodhara stand and wooden steam bath) made locally..
Specialised oils and some medicines from India
Providing accommodation and support for our resident doctor who will be coming from India's to help us initiate this project.

The space that we want to turn into the Panchakarma center in the botanical walk at Ki-Ra.

To this space we will make several adjustments, and add 2 more compartments which will house another medicine room and a steam bath/ water therapy space. There is already one bathroom, we will need to build another.

We also need to make the accommodation space for our Ayurvedic Dr a comfortable place to stay by adding a small kitchen.

We have a local carpenter who is building us the dhroni (specialised ayurvedic massage table) out of this beautiful Saman wood and hope it will look like this dhroni from India (underneath) ;)

The local wood..

A ready made table

Otherwise we will bring the equipment from India, along with one therapist (we need 2 for all treatments) and our Ayurvedic Doctor and the first lot of oil supplies and medicines ;)

These are the teachers who trained me in India, giving me their extra time so that I could help bring this incredible form of medicine back to the DR.

Thank you therapist Shree...

And Thank you Dr Seena, for all of your dedication to ayurveda and helping people. I cannot wait to work with you soon!

Every donation is one step closer, so we thank you from the bottom of our hearts in advance. As I stated before, we want to see you at Ki-Ra, so this donation is more of a 'pay-it-forward' investment for you to come and stay and receive these ayurvedic treatments.

Our ideal timeline is to have this project finished by the end of 2024, so that we can open in January 2025. We will keep you posted on our progress!

Please feel free to contact me for more information or anything else you would like to know about what we do, Ayurveda, Panchakarma or even what you can receive in return for your generosity.

Thank you so much! I am so grateful for your help and support.
