♡ Welcome! The Pink House: Bar & Shop exists to create a safe, accessible and sustainable space for BIPOC LBGTQ+ community through building a permanent community hub. We aim to create a lasting environment for the enjoyment and education of people of all ages and demographics and demonstrate the power of togetherness.
The Pink House: Bar and Shop will be a progressive and intersectional coffee bar and shop in Downtown Colorado Springs by and for BIPOC LGBTQ+, people with disabilities and more. We are excited to welcome you to enjoy quality coffee, cozy soups and other delicious eats (including vegan, gluten-free and allergen friendly offerings), regular events, including a weekly farmer’s market and a community garden! We will host everything from local artists, book clubs and open mics, to food drives and opportunities for education for our local community, plus so much more!
Our heart and mission is to create a permanent, inspiring and inclusive space where people feel seen and part of a community that holds and values them for who they are.
We are so excited you are here with us! You can follow our story on instagram at @pinkhousebarandshop as we go! Please help us spread the word by sharing this message with your friends, family and colleagues!
This idea will be brought to reality with support from the entire community!
Join us in reaching our goal of $1,111,111 so we can buy our dream building and create a permanent home for The Pink House: Bar and Shop in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs.
The Pink House: Bar and Shop was founded by a collective of creative friends in Colorado Springs who were already hosting events and community gatherings and working in the industry but realized that few communal spaces and workplaces were truly accepting and safe for BIPOC LGBTQ+, and other vulnerable people groups.
We, along with many other locals in Colorado Springs, have expressed a sense of lack in terms of environments in which we are safe to express ourselves (as it is in many other places in the US today as well). Accessible, neurodivergent-friendly, hangout spaces for all ages, including young queer people, are limited in town, and are needed now more than ever in today’s current climate. The fact that we still feel this way in 2023 is unacceptable, to say the least! With that in mind, we feel it is our privilege and duty to create a permanent, welcoming establishment for our city’s ever expanding diverse queer population to express themselves fully, without fear of judgment, harassment, or even worse. A majority of our designated LGBTQ+ bars, clubs and organizations in the city have either closed down or relocated to Denver, which makes the need for a new space for all of us to gather more dire and valuable than ever!
If you weren’t curious before, we know you are now! The funds that we raise will go directly towards buying the building, startup costs, and a ‘future fund’ so that we are able to ensure a permanent space for The Pink House: Bar and Shop in town for generations to come. We are committed to being transparent with our finances and to building community wealth for our neighborhood by buying, instead of feeding into the rent system - you can see our cost breakdown below!
This Pink House: Bar and Shop space will be collectively owned and passed down through our organization as a lasting place, not just a fleeting startup- this is why we decided to begin by buying instead of leasing, and money raised will be put into a collective fund that will be dedicated to keeping this space alive.
The Pink House: Bar and Shop will be much more than just a coffee shop or café - it will be a space for our BIPOC LGBTQ+ community of all ages in town to feel completely safe to be themselves and to express queer joy, a privilege we all deserve to step into.
This will be a permanent home where people can teach classes and hold clubs, share hands-on knowledge, and educate each other for the betterment of our local and global community.
This will be a space where our community can come together, make friends and figure out even more ways to help each other.
This will be a space where we can all dance and love freely.
We cannot wait to rendezvous with you!
Thank you so much for your support. ♡
