Build a water well for Nomads in the Algerian Sahara Desert

For those who know me, I am not a keen runner (at all). This year I decided to challenge myself and run my first ever marathon - the Loch Ness on the 29th of September. I haven't run in a couple of years and started my training on the 26th of March struggling to finish 3.11km. I took a long break in April and went for it again in May. I then got injured at the end of May...Believe me when I say this will not be easy. I have no idea if I will make it but running for a good cause will certainly give me the energy required to get through the finish line and this is why I need YOU.

Some 2.1 billion people, or 30% of the world's population, still do not have access to domestic drinking water services (WHO). This is unfortunately made worse by the effects of Global warming which is increasing the incidence of drought, which dries up water holes.

In the Sahara, Tuaregs (a large Berber ethnic group, traditionally nomadic pastoralists, who principally inhabit the Sahara) have to travel for several days to find water wells. The guide in the video explains that climate change is creating lasting droughts in the desert (2 to 3 years of drought), which disrupts their lives. As we all know Water is life and we are lucky to have plenty of it in the UK. The creation of water wells is a sustainable solution that can help Tuaregs live better with their children and their livestock.
