We are the Venice Basketball League (“VBL”). Founded in 2006, we started off with a small tournament with 12 teams from all over the city – just some passionate players brought together by the love of the game. Since then, VBL has grown into a can’t miss experience featuring NBA veterans, streetball stars and local players.
Over the last eleven years, VBL has come to be a cornerstone in the Venice Beach community, even starting our own youth initiative, Kids VBL – a summer camp where we teach kids about fitness and wellness as well as help them strengthen their game.
There’s no better way to put it: We build courts, not walls. #buildcourts
At this time, the courts are in poor shape and we need your help to give them a new look. The city of Venice Beach has agreed to work with us to work on the courts. We have decided to meet that challenge head-on. We are aiming to do a complete maintenance project and fresh paint design. We don’t just want to renovate them, we will also cover the on-going maintenance over the next three years.
Itemized list of use of proceeds:
Labor: $13,000 (Fill in cracks & pot holes)
Primer: $10,000
Paint: $13,000
Maintenance (3 years): $24,000
Total fundraising goal: $60,000
If we achieve our goal we will also give away another 500 basketballs to deserving kids :)
Rejuvenating our home court of Venice Beach is the first step in our build courts not wall global campaign. There are a number of courts all over the world that need a little love, and people all over the world who turn to basketball as a means to rise above. One of VBL's missions is to lend a hand to these communities around the world.
Every dollar counts and we are humbly asking for your support.
