We're building capacity to support educators across Turtle Island / North America to teach urgently needed intersectional representation of disabled, neurodivergent and 2SQTBIPoC in Kindergarten - Gr. 12 public school, home school and distance learners, IB, and post secondary.
Hi, my name is Aisha, and I'm the founder of I Dream Library and our newest interdisciplinary education project - the I Dream Library and Center for Education Design™. We began as a response to Black history books being banned in a Vancouver, British Columbia elementary school in 2018. Since 2019, we've supported students, educators, librarians and student support workers in challenging racism, queer and transphobia, and ableism, in schools and school curriculum.
Our organization's goal is abundant 2SLGBTQQIA+ disabled, neurodivergent, Black Indigenous Asian and Pacific Islander representation in classrooms and libraries around the world. We believe through education, abolition and safety for 2SLGBTQQIA+ Black Indigenous and Asian and Pacific Islanders is possible. We design, source, write, consult, and teach literary curation, anti-oppression education, intersectional equity evaluation frameworks and environments where learning and solutions are rooted in collaborative care, abolition, transformative justice and disability justice.
This campaign is a call for community support toward the first phase of our newest project: securing a location, and budget for library expansion and staffing critical roles in our business. We have some great projects on the go and to sustain our momentum, and we have to increase capacity with a dedicated team and center to develop a research library, write curriculum, build literary installations, teach classes, and offer programming.

I Dream Library and Center for Education Design™️ will continue to work in partnership across disciplines to research, teach, workshop, present, and exchange learning for the benefit of students and educators.
