Build Little Free Libraries to provide books to children
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Jayne, and I’m raising funds to create Little Free Libraries for children in my hometown of New Westminster. This is an incredibly diverse community with residents from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Unfortunately, access to children’s books can sometimes be limited, particularly for families facing housing or food insecurity or navigating language barriers. My goal is to provide children and their families with access to high-quality children's literature that is completely free and accessible to everyone, both physically and financially.
As an Early Childhood Educator with 40 years of experience, working with children has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Now, I want to give back to my community in a meaningful way. The books in these libraries will be carefully curated to reflect diversity and representation, ensuring that children see themselves and others in the stories they read.
One library has already been built and installed, but I hope to add more. Any funds raised will go toward building, painting, and decorating these libraries to reflect the unique spirit of their communities, as well as installing them in accessible locations. This work is being done by a team of talented young artists and carpenters from the greater Vancouver area, extending the positive impact to even more people in our community.
Thank you for helping bring this project to life and for supporting a love of reading and inclusivity in New Westminster.
