Eight months ago, I became homeless for the first time — right here in Bend, Oregon. I've been living in motels ever since, working a physically demanding retail job while managing Hashimoto's disease. My two ESA cats, Pip and Squeak, have kept me going.
Before this happened to me, I worked nights at a local homeless shelter. I saw the system from the inside — and when it was my turn, I discovered how truly scattered and confusing the resources really are. That experience gave birth to Our Clear Haven.
It's a free mobile app with an AI guide named Crystal — a compassionate, voice-enabled navigator who speaks plain language, finds real-time resources near you, and never makes you feel judged. She works offline and is designed for the exact moments when everything feels overwhelming.
To launch this app, I need one thing first: stable housing. Getting off the motel treadmill lets me leave my retail job and build full-time. Your support goes directly toward:
- A stable place to live and reliable internet
- Basic living expenses while I build
- Getting the first version live in Central Oregon
Your support doesn't just help me. It creates a tool that helps thousands of people avoid falling through the same cracks. Pip, Squeak, and I are deeply grateful for anything you can give — and for sharing this with your network.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
George
