BUILDING THIS WHOLE DANG SHOP!

Hi there and thank you for being here! My name is Trena Reynolds and I am the daughter of John, of Johns Furniture Repair. My dad has had a business in Saskatoon Saskatchewan for over 55 years restoring antiques and repairing furniture. I grew up in the business and truly love this career. I decided to start my own Johns furniture repair in Ontario where it ran for 10 years as well as started a youtube channel to show all the beautiful restorations and to help educate and entertain others who are interested. Last year, I moved back home to Saskatoon to buy out my father's business allowing him to retire and keep the business in the family.

I decided to build my own building so I could stop paying lease payments on the space my dad was using. He was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease about a decade ago and is now forced to take a back seat to the business but he still loves to putter around in the shop and get on my nerves lol.

I started plans on my new building before I left Ontario with xxx... I wanted to order a DIY kit and build it myself. Planning went well at first but as time went on the engineers that they recommended left me high and dry in multiple ways, submitting plans to the permit office citing long outdated building code, missing deadlines, having to re-do architectural drawings three times over costing thousands extra, not returning calls and emails, calling for twice as much cement as was needed in their specs, I could go on and on. Meanwhile xxxxx kept pushing aggressively for multiple rounds of deposits on the steel. I first gave them $10,000, then another $25,000, and many payments going out to the engineers as well. After a year with no progress and unending frustrations I finally told xxxxxx to cancel the build. I'm out over $40,000 already and don't expect to get any of that back.

I have hired a local builder to do a pole barn complete with cement and everything for a decent price. I no longer have that much money, but I will take out a line of credit which will hopefully be enough to finish the build. If you guys could help me recoup my losses from this past year that would help out tons. My goal for this fundraiser is $40,000. I plan on making a wall in my new workshop displaying the name of every patron who supports this build.
