Building a Library for Osu Children's Home

My name is Kojo Asiedu-Otibu, and I am a 10th grader born in Ghana and now living in Massachusetts. A couple years ago, my family and I visited our home country, Ghana, and I was fortunate enough to have many wonderful experiences that have greatly contributed to my worldview.

One of the many experiences I had while in Ghana was attending my family's church. The church meets in an orphanage, allowing for many youths living in orphanage to attend church services. In being present at the church weekly, I was introduced to children from the orphanage and quickly developed friendships with some of them through playing basketball and having conversations with them after church. Through continuous interaction with them, I gained firsthand accounts of some of the difficulties faced by the youth residing there.

-A particular concern which stood out to me was accessible education. As an American student, I understand my own experience with school and the difficulties that I face, even with the resources I have at my disposal, and how difficult it would be without such resources.

-The presence of appropriate, accessible, and sustainable learning equipment for any student can be pivotal In breeding academic success.

-To help promote accessible education in Osu Children's Home and surrounding areas, I plan on funding the building of a container library for the students there to use freely. This proposed library will include computers, books, and other pieces of learning equipment that can aid students in their education.

To further this initiative, donations are required in order to sustainably and actively build and maintain a potential library. This initiative is extremely important to me and will be what the entirety of the money from this fundraiser will go to.

I believe young people will determine the future, therefore sustainable and accessible education are of paramount importance for youth everywhere.
