Building a Library for Thrive for Life Residents
Donation protected
I am Bobby Spinna, and I have been working with Thrive for Life Prison Project (TFL) for the last two summers. TFL is a non-profit founded in 2017 by Jesuit Father Zachariah Presutti, with the mission to transform lives both behind and beyond prison walls. They offer spiritual guidance and support to thousands of men and women in correctional facilities throughout New York and Wisconsin, while also providing holistic supportive services for those returning to society.
TFL operates two houses of study: Ignacio House in East Harlem and Abraham House in the South Bronx, which together serve more than 45 justice-impacted men. These houses provide temporary housing and a supportive community for individuals returning from incarceration, with a particular focus on education, employment, and permanent affordable housing. TFL participants are pursuing college degrees at partner institutions including New York University, Columbia University, and the CUNY system, while others engage in GED and vocational training through TFL's onsite education classes.
As an aspiring Eagle Scout, I am working on a capstone service project that entails creating a library and study room to be used by the formerly incarcerated residents of the Ignacio House. I will use your donations to supply shelves, desks, and office supplies for the library. As part of my Eagle project, I also hope to install computers that the residents can use to aid their education as well as to search for permanent housing and employment. I would appreciate any help that you can provide.
Thank you for supporting this project and Thrive for Life's mission to transform lives!
