Building a Safer Path: Support Azimio's Walkway
Donation protected
As a proud member of the Global Leaders and Scholars in STEM (GLASS) senior cohort at NYU Tandon, I had the privilege to volunteer as a Math and English teacher at Azimio Primary School in Arusha, Tanzania. This experience not only allowed me to contribute to the education of young minds but also exposed me to the daily challenges faced by the students and staff at the school.
Azimio Primary School serves a vibrant community of over 750 students, with class sizes averaging around 70 pupils from 1st to 7th grade. Despite the dedication of the staff and the eagerness of the students, one significant obstacle undermines their educational environment: the absence of proper walkways. The current path to the classrooms is fraught with uneven terrain, leading to not only a constant trek of mud into learning spaces but also poses a real risk of injuries to the students.
Recognizing the urgent need for a solution, the Director of Azimio Primary School has meticulously developed a budget outlining a three-stage development plan to construct durable walkways across the campus. The completion of this project will not only enhance the cleanliness and safety of the school environment but also ensure that students can focus on their education without unnecessary distractions or hazards.
Our Goal:
WE HIT OUR INITIAL GOAL!!! You have all raised enough money to fund the first stage of Azimio's Walkway.
Stage 1: Constructing the front side walkway, immediately after the teachers' staffroom and in front of the classrooms.
Now moving to support stage 2 of the Walkway project for Azimio Primary School.
Stage 2: Developing walkways in front of the classrooms with durable materials.
Following stages include:
Stage 3: Creating the parade area around the flag post and extending walkways to the lower primary classes.
Your contribution will directly support the commencement of Stage 1, laying the groundwork for a transformation that will serve the school for years to come.
