Building a Well For Usamah Abdul Waheed

Update (06.09.2023)

Asalamualaykum everyone, firstly I would like to thank everyone who donated. Again, may Allah reward you immensely for all your efforts. Secondly I would like to apologise for the delay in making the donation. The distractions of life continue to pile on top of us. I have also been looking into a suitable organisation to go with for the Well building. It will be Ummah Welfare Trust. A very well known organisation, always striving to do their best, they have made many appearances in Crawley over the years. The total amount that was withdrawn from GoFundMe was £10,437.70. Unfortunately GoFundMe takes a percentage of each withdrawal/fundraiser. In this case it has been around £400. I will attach screenshots below of the exact amounts taken. The total cost for building a Well into hard ground in Afghanistan is £4850.00. We will be building two of these in the name of my brother Usamah Abdul Waheed. The remaining £737.70 will be sent towards providing water on the ground for our brothers and sisters who are suffering in Yemen.

From when the donation will be made which will Inshallah be today from time of writing this update. They (UWT) have advised us it can take around 12 months to complete the building of the Well. I will be asking for regular updates as well as pictures which I will try my best to upload and update on this page.

This is the update for now. May Allah (S.W.T) guide us all and forgive us for our shortcomings. I will end on a short Hadith; which I encourage everyone to act upon inshallah;

Sa'd ibn Ubadah said: "I said: O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died. Should I give charity on her behalf? He said, Yes. I asked, What kind of charity is best? He said, Providing water." (Reported by al-Nasai)

Update (29.05.2023)

Alhamdulillah the janazah/burial has taken place, it was a great blessing to be able to have carried out such a crucial part of the end of a muslims life. May Allah (s.w.t) accept everyone’s effort on that day. So many brothers and sisters attended Mashallah, the support is incredible and it really shows how blessed we are to be muslims in such a day and age. I will now be looking into the best organisation to go ahead with the building of the Wells as with this amount we can most definitely build a few inshallah. The donations will remain open during this time in case anyone has not yet had a chance to do so. Please return back to this page for any further updates.

This fundraiser has been organised by Sulayman Abdul Waheed. Firstly I would like to utilise this section for those who will read. If I could kindly request everyone to refrain from detailed questions regarding his passing. It is an extremely sensitive topic. As you can imagine this is very difficult to comprehend as well as to explain especially for my mother. If this could be relayed to as many people possible that would be greatly appreciated.

Most importantly at this time he needs your Du’as.

I would like to thank everyone, family and friends who have been around Usamah offering him continuous support and comfort throughout his life. In this current moment, the best form of help we are able to offer him will be through continuous Du’a and good deeds in his cause. Currently the burial has not taken place therefore I have decided to organise this as a form of Sadaqah Jariyah which will be of unimaginable benefit to him in the hereafter Inshallah. Any amount of donation is appreciated by the family, as mentioned in the title, the donations will be given towards the construction of a Well which will provide water and in turn reward Usamah till the day of Judgment. May Allah (s.w.t) reward everyone contributing through donation and Du’a.
