Building Campaign

Dear Families and Friends of The Music Note,

Every year, we like to provide you all with an update on the health of The Music Note and I am happy to report that business has stayed steady over the summer- for which we are very grateful!

This year brings new and exciting challenges to The Music Note. With our lease being up on April 1, we have decided to work towards securing our own building. We are striving to stay in Ben Avon, the community that welcomed and embraced us wholeheartedly. We have begun conversations with the owner of Kicher Duplicating Services print shop to purchase his building as the new site for the studio. The print shop is located at 7117 Church Avenue, which is right across the street from our current address. Working closely with some local contractors, we have established that this new potential location would double the amount of space we currently have and give us room to grow into the future.

The plans we are drafting up for this space have many parts, which we will explain in detail below.

The Front Exterior

We plan to clean up the outside of this building and give it a face lift by updating the windows, scraping and painting the exterior, repairing the masonry, and if needed, putting on a new roof.

The Interior Basement

We plan to completely renovate the inside of this building. We will dry lock and finish the basement to house 6 rooms: percussion, strings, brass, woodwind and 2 voice. This would include updating the electrical service and wiring, building soundproof walls for instrument study, opening/winding the staircase, and installing a new emergency exit.

The Interior Main Floor

We plan on installing new drywall and new flooring, building 2 lesson room bump outs, which will be used for piano rooms, as well as a storage closet and having a 1400 square foot room for Choir, Bell Choirs, Mommy and Me, and other ensembles.

The Exterior Back

Behind the building is a small lawn. In time, intend to have this lawn paved to add a small parking lot for our patrons and staff.

HVAC Update

In addition to all of the above, we plan to upgrade the furnace and cooling system to be more efficient.

By doing these things, it will help us achieve our goal of staying in the Ben Avon neighborhood, the continued ability to offer free concerts and recitals to the community, and to continue providing instruction and opportunities to our students for many years to come. We also hope that our business will help bring others into the neighborhood so they can learn to love and appreciate this wonderful borough!

To accomplish our goal, we will be starting a capital campaign to help us raise funds to purchase and renovate this building to be our forever home! In order to successfully secure and renovate the 7117 Church Avenue location, we will need your help! We are $53,000 away from purchasing this building. Anything that you would be willing to contribute will help our music school greatly.

If you prefer to donate privately donations can be mailed to:

Thank you for your generosity, this is truly a community business, and we are very well aware that we cannot succeed without your support.
