"Building Hope: Supporting LGBTQ housing

Tax deductible
The funds raised through this crowd fund will be used to expand Baltimore Safe Haven's housing capacity and create a community hub that offers on-site services for LGBTQ youth and seniors. Here is a breakdown of how the funds will be utilized:

1. Building Expansion: A portion of the funds will go towards expanding Baltimore Safe Haven's housing facilities to accommodate more individuals in need of safe and affirming housing. This includes constructing additional living spaces, common areas, and facilities to ensure the comfort and well-being of residents.

2. On-Site Services: Funds will be allocated to establish on-site services that cater to the unique needs of LGBTQ youth and seniors. This may include mental health support, workforce development programs, healthcare services, legal assistance, advocacy programs, and community-building initiatives. These services will be essential in providing holistic care and support to residents.

3. Operational Costs: A portion of the funds will cover operational costs such as staff salaries, utilities, maintenance, and other expenses associated with running the expanded housing facility and community hub. This ensures that Baltimore Safe Haven can continue to provide high-quality services to the LGBTQ community.

4. Safety and Accessibility Upgrades: Funds will also be used to implement safety and accessibility upgrades within the housing facility to ensure that all residents feel secure and comfortable. This may include installing security systems, improving accessibility features for individuals with disabilities, and enhancing overall safety measures.

5. Community Engagement Programs: A portion of the funds will be allocated towards community engagement programs that aim to foster a sense of belonging and connection among residents. This may include organizing events, workshops, support groups, and other activities that promote social interaction and community building.

By donating to this crowd fund, you are directly contributing to the expansion of Baltimore Safe Haven's housing capacity and the establishment of a community hub that provides essential services to LGBTQ youth and seniors. Your support will help create a safe and affirming space where individuals can thrive and find the support they need to overcome challenges and build a brighter future.
In the heart of Baltimore, there is a community that needs our help. LGBTQ youth and seniors face challenges that many of us can't even imagine. Discrimination, homelessness, lack of resources - these are just a few of the hurdles they face every day. Now, imagine not being able to find proper affirming housing, a place where you can truly be yourself and feel safe.

That's where Baltimore Safe Haven comes in. Founded by the incredible Iya Dammons, a Black trans woman activist who has experienced firsthand the struggles of homelessness and survival sex work, this organization is a beacon of hope for the TLGBQIA+ community in Baltimore. Since its inception in 2018, Baltimore Safe Haven has provided comprehensive support services, stable housing solutions, mental health support, and so much more to those in need.

But there is still so much work to be done. We are launching a crowd fund to raise $350,000 to expand Baltimore Safe Haven's housing capacity and create a community hub that offers on-site services for LGBTQ youth and seniors. This project is not just about adding beds - it's about creating a safe space where everyone is welcomed and supported.

Your donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ individuals in Baltimore. Together, we can make a historic step for Maryland, led by trans women of color who have been the architects and engineers for housing and direct resources. Baltimore Safe Haven has already raised $1.5 million, but we need your support to reach our goal.

Join us in supporting this cause that is like no other. Let's come together as a community to help those who need it most. Your donation will help provide proper affirming housing, on-site services, and a sense of belonging to LGBTQ individuals in Baltimore. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for your generosity and support.
