Help Us Sustain Our Two New Libraries and Drive Change

Hi, we’re Gabriel and Lukas, co-founders of EduDrive. Our journey began as a dream to connect our love for travel with a purpose. This summer, we’re embarking on a mission to transform education for children in rural Rwanda, and we need your help!

Who We Are:

We’re two friends driven by a passion for making a difference. We met during a university exchange in Shanghai and bonded over our shared vision of creating a brighter future through education. Our NGO EduDrive is our way of giving back and creating lasting impact.

Our Mission:

In Rwanda, many children lack access to basic educational resources. Determined to make a difference, we began our journey in February 2024 with five months of intensive preparation, including a one-week preliminary visit in May. Finally, we spent five weeks in July and August 2024 equipping two small libraries with carefully selected books and materials to empower the local youth.

Education is a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. By providing these resources, we’re not just giving books; we’re opening doors to new opportunities and brighter futures. Your support can make a world of difference.

How You Can Help:

Your donation will directly sustain our two newly built libraries in Rwanda.

We need 3,000€ annually to cover the salaries and costs of our dedicated librarians, volunteers and local partner Agati Library, who ensure the smooth operation, safety, and organization of the libraries and their equipment. Your support will also cover additional expenses such as electricity, cleaning, and bathroom access, ensuring a welcoming and functional environment for all visitors.

Location 1: Nyabihu School for Deaf Musanze District

Located on the edge of the Musanze District in northern Rwanda, this school serves 63 dedicated deaf students. Built 11 years ago, the school required students to walk 50 minutes to the nearest library for more books, as their single bookshelf was often insufficient. Thanks to your generous support, we’ve invested €2085 to create a vibrant library stocked with high-quality, carefully selected books, a bookshelf, and contributions of notebooks, pens, pencils, games, and toys from our amazing donors. ✏️

But that’s not all! The school has opened its doors every weekend to the entire Nyabihu community, inviting children to read, learn, and play in this new space. To ensure the library’s successful operation and the orderly maintenance of the books, EduDrive provides monthly financial compensations as agreed with the school, to compensate the dedicated staff, teachers, and volunteers. This space is a haven for learning, playing, and inspiring these children to dream big and achieve their goals.

Location 2: Community Youth Centre Karongi District

Located in a remote area of Karongi District next to Rwanda's famous Lake Kivu, this community urgently needed its first public library. The district has provided us with a small unused building consisting of one room that we transformed into a vibrant space where children and youth aged 6-25 can come to learn and study at any time for free.
