Survive & Thrive has been my mission since becoming homeless on my 17th birthday.

It's been 30 years since that day I had to make the biggest decision of my life.

Thriving didn't come for many, many, many years later.

This was work, this was me healing my traumas to create a better future. I'm living proof that accepting and dealing with your own mess is rewarding in the long run.

Do the work, heal your traumas and do what you love.

This is #selfcare and I didn't understand what that meant until I was in my 30s. I love being honest with myself. It ain't all peaches and cream but it's real.

The road to healing was extremely difficult to address. Throughout that journey I was able to build an amazing family life with my husband of 10 years 11~12~13. We've been together for 14 years and are doing all we can to raise our kids without the societal norms and generational curses.

Our children and myself have grown fond of growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants and herbs that we started the spring of 2020 as a family COVID-19 Quarantine Project. The past 3 years we've harvested peppers, jalapeños, corn, yellow squash, zucchini, tomatoes, green beans, sage, rosemary, lemon thyme, chocolate mint, lemon balm, lavender, mullein, and dandelion. My husband has enjoyed learning and lavishing in the farm to table meals he's enjoyed.

We just bought our very 1st home amd are so thankful to continue the process of self sufficiency. As a family we've found a place we can call our permanent home with more space for our growing kids and homesteading lifestyle.

Being a Descendant of Chattel Slavery that's been affected by disenfranchisement, redlining, Jim crow era, broken family, lack of equality, lack of equity and inclusion its been difficult to save the amount needed to fullfill these dreams. Our cottage foods family bakery is moving onto year 5 this April and having the ability to provide this dream for myself, my husband and our kids would mean the world to us. We are ready to expand for a sustainable future and bring quality wellness to our community.

We are beyond grateful to have this avenue to use to help fund or Family Homesteading Dreams.
