Building project for mother tongue translators
Donation protected
P and V are two Christians who are a part of the M Bible translation team. P is also involved in teaching his people. Just last year, P sold his house here in our city and was able to buy a piece of property in our neighborhood. V is currently living in another city somewhat far away and relies on taxis to commute. He would like to sell his house and buy land in our neighborhood. We also see a great benefit of having them and their families closer in allowing for discipleship opportunities and being able to work more efficiently together on the translation.
The purpose of this page is to raise funds to help each of them buy the necessary materials to build a simple wooden house measuring roughly 13 x 20 feet. While small, the house style (single-pitched roof on stilts) would allow for future expansion (adding on a lean-to and building wall around lower floor). Labor would be volunteer, and resourced locally.
With the current exchange rate being favorable, the estimated cost for buying the lumber, metal roofing material, plumbing, and electrical is roughly $2050 (R$10,396) each (including GoFundMe fees).
Note: the lack of details (names, photos) is to protect the privacy of the translators, but feel free to ask any clarifying questions.
