Rescue center for orphans & abused women

Donation protected
My husband, Terry, and I were brought together under the most unlikely of circumstances. I was born and raised in Kenya, where he had come to serve on a mission trip in 2005. On the very last day of his mission, he and I met at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro and found a connection. That connection grew over several years into a relationship and then marriage in 2008. I moved back to the US with him and a few years later our beautiful daughter Sophia was born. But God had more in store for us than just our family.

Soon after our marriage in 2008, Terry, and I woke one morning from a dream in which we had built an orphanage. Not just any orphanage - but a rescue center for abused women and orphaned children back in Kenya. This shared dream woke both of us from sleep with an urgency that continues to move us forward today. Kenya is a country full of beauty and nature, but women living in abusive circumstances are disadvantaged and have nowhere to go and no one to turn to.

We would like to change that. Terry and I are on a mission to bring our dream to life.

Since that fateful night in 2008 we have taken steps to establish the Rescue Center. We continue to travel to Kenya preparing to turn our dream into a reality. In 2018 we purchased a 5-acre piece of land at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro where it will be built.

Through this Center we will provide:
· Refuge to women living in abusive situations.
· Valuable skills training so that these women can begin to earn an income themselves and become independent.
· Education and support to their children and orphaned children from the area.

We are taking steps to sell our own home here in the United States so that we can move to Kenya full time to launch the Center. This will support all of our personal needs. What is holding us back now from moving forward is raising the funds to get the rescue center started.

The number one most important thing is WATER. Without water, we cannot support these women and children, we cannot grow food and we cannot live on the property ourselves. We believe we have been called to bring our dream to life, as that was the purpose of our shared vision. But we know we were not meant to do it alone.

Sometimes people just need help - this is a universal concept that is relevant to all people, no matter where we live or where we come from. These women and children need help. You have the power to impact these women and children's lives. You have the power to impact our life. We want so badly to move forward but we need help. 2020 has been rough but you have the opportunity to be a part of something great that will bring HOPE and JOY to many. Give if you are able, share this campaign with others and most importantly PRAY for us.

Our goal is to do this in phases and ensure that the center is as self-sufficient as possible. Here is our current plan:

Phase 1: Choose and purchase land -COMPLETE

Phase 2: Install groundwater well plus any supplies needed - Funds needed: $25,000.

Phase 3: Install solar system, as power is not dependable in this area. This will ensure that we have power to pump the well, for irrigation to grow crops and for those that we will bring in. Funds needed: $25,000

Phase 4: Install irrigation system and purchase crops and supplies to begin growing food to feed those
that we will bring in. Funds needed: $5,000

Phase 5: Building of the rescue center. This includes, building permits, architectural design & structural
engineer, sewage & septic installation, plumbing etc. Funds needed $100,000

Phase 6: Purchasing beds and furnishing, first aid kits and sanitary supplies. Funds needed $5,500

Phase 7: 4X4 rescue vehicle to use for supplies and getting people out of the deep African bush. This is
essential because many places that we will be going to the villages have no roads & are otherwise inaccessible. Funds needed: $25,000

All donations are helpful! Take this journey with us - let us bring this dream to life together! No amount is too small.
