Building the Tarkine Wild School
Donation protected
Wild Walkers is a not-for-profit association running community journeys into wild places, specifically, the Tarkine region in Tasmania's North West. All profits made from these journeys generate revenue that will then be put into developing the Tarkine Wild School.

The Tarkine Wild School
The Tarkine Wild School is a fund dedicated to supporting disadvantaged youth to connect with wild landscape and heal. Eligible young people will be assessed and offered a one year intensive scholarship. Facilitator wages will paid for by the Wild Walkers trip profits.
A Unique Approach
This model is motivated by the courage to lead by example and take responsibility for creating the world we wish to hand to current and future generations. Wild Walkers participants are leaders; they are taking responsibility to forge the conditions that will fund kids at risk accessing wild landscapes over an intensive year.
The Journey Begins
In January 2020, a small group of people will be embarking on our first official journey to the Tarkine Coast, where they will stay for 8 days deeply connecting with the land and living in wild community. In order to make this trip more accessible for people from all walks of life, we charge the minimum possible fee for this service. For a deeper understanding about our movement, and this particular journey see the video below:

In order for us to successfully run this journey, we need to purchase long-lasting equipment and infrastructure that will also be utilised in the wild school itself.
This Will Include -
- A 4m 'Adapt-a-pod': These are a beautiful, bomb-proof and locally made, demountable structures which will serve as the central communal space for our base camp on the coast. This will cost approximately $8,000.
- 2 weather-proof high quality cam-corders, which will be used to capture and document people's journeys in the wild and for the creation of in-house promotional material for our cause. These will cost $1100 each.
- An additional $5,000 as surplus reserve money to support the payment of insurances, website build, and daily costs in the initial launch period.
In total, we are aiming to raise $15,000
All of us at Wild Walkers will be incredibly grateful for any support you can give to our cause, helping us to provide something that is so needed for disadvantaged youth and our culture as a whole.
Please consider contributing to this cause by donating, spreading this video around or joining us for a trip. Finally, get behind your friends who are joining us on this trip, they are asking directly for your support and every contribution is so important.
Upwards,
Wild Walkers
