Building Hope Project:

The homeless situation has become a state of emergency in Los Angeles. As of January 2016 there are more than 44,000 homeless people in Los Angeles County alone with well over half of them (26,000) in the city of Los Angeles.

Many people are passionate about supporting efforts to eradicate homelessness yet are at a loss as to how to. Elvis Summers of My Tiny House LA  has taken it upon himself to build tiny homes to get people out of the gutter and back on track to rehabilitating their lives. What these homes offer is more than a roof over their heads. These homes offer shelter, warmth and privacy, a good nights sleep for sound state of mind, and safety from burglary or rape, but most importantly they offer dignity. They are a space of their own they can transition out of and back into a life that works, where they can rebuild their future. There have been many success stories of homeless getting back on their feet as a result of these tiny homes.

The Building Hope Project is committed to drawing attention to the problems of homelessness and promoting creative solutions. Working in partnership with Elvis we're asking you to please support this project by giving. Funding raised will go directly to support My Tiny House LA by building a mobile shower unit, 2 new tiny homes and refurbishing 11 existing homes needing repair.

In the long run your contribution will support a much bigger picture of getting 24 tiny homes onto the land at Hope Gardens in Sylmar. Hope Gardens is a facility that houses women and children with existing services and support staff that will help these families transition safely back into society. The long term goal is to set up one of the first fully functional, mobile ecovillages in Los Angeles that will model as a transitional solution to help combat the ever increasing homeless crisis. Aside from tiny homes, your contributions will fund landscaping, dumpsters to clear the space and community gardens; which will offer a source of income for these women and children. Let us all come together as a human family to eradicate homelessness and rehabilitate these people into a life of possibility.

Funding Needs:

The Building Hope Project is looking to raise $51,000 for this campaign. The funds we raise are broken down as follows:

A. Raise an initial $11,000 by September 7th

These initial funds will support My Tiny House LA by:

1. Purchasing the building materials and supplies to construct 2 new tiny homes (approximate cost of $2,400), a mobile shower unit ($1,600) and repairs to 11 existing tiny homes (est. cost $3,000). Total estimated cost is $7,000.

2. Provide care packages for 100 homeless people. The care packages include such items as face/hand wipes, socks, toothbrush/paste, deodorant, blankets, snacks, etc.. Total estimated cost is $4,000.

B. Raise a total of $51,000 to Support My Tiny House LA

Our ultimate goal of $51,000 is to support My Tiny House LA in fulfilling its long-term vision. The additional $40,000 will support this through:

1. Purchasing building materials and supplies to construct the 24 new tiny homes that will eventually be located on land at Hope Gardens in Sylmar. The total estimated cost for these 24 new tiny homes is $29,000.

2. Remaining funding will be used to fulfill My Tiny House LA’s vision to establish a fully functioning mobile eco village in Los Angeles. The funds will be used for landscaping, purchasing dumpsters to clear the space and establishing community gardens. The total estimated cost is $11,000.

But we don’t want to stop at $51,000. With your contributions and support, any funds raised in excess of our $51,000 goal will be donated to My Tiny House LA to support their ongoing efforts to solve the problems of homelessness.
