Bumble the Tripod Doodle Rehab
Tax deductible
Bumble is an 8 week old Standard Poodle Mix Puppy. Poodle Mixes are often referred to as "doodles" and so we are calling him Bumble the Doodle. He can be followed on Instagram at @bumblethetripoddoodle (he is a baby and this is a new account, so he appreciates your patience)
**We are not accepting applications for his adoption at this time. Our all-volunteer team needs to put our energy into getting him healed for several months and taking care of the other animals in our rescue who are available for adoption. Thank you for understanding**
Bumble was brought into a veterinary clinic in the Central Valley of California with a hurt leg. The owner/breeder originally said he had fallen off of the couch. Upon exam it was noted that he had a badly broken femur.
The vet said "he did not get THIS injury from falling off of a couch" and the owner/breeder said "Oh maybe he got hit by a car then"... The vet feels that he was actually kicked HARD and perhaps by the steel-toed boots that the owner was still wearing. Did he have an accident? Chew a shoe? Whine too much? Acted like...a puppy? Who knows... but this sweet boy did NOT deserve this.
The vet came up with an estimate for sedation, x-rays and treatment and the owner/breeder refused and only wanted pain meds. The vet told him that he could either treat appropriatley or sign him over or the police would get involved. The owner/breeder signed him over.
The (WONDERFUL) vet clinic then did sedation, x-rays and pain meds and saw that his femur on his back right leg was SHATTERED. They contacted Wings of Rescue who contacted us at Umbrella of Hope and we agreed to take him. He was flown to us on a private plane thanks to Pilots and Paws and is now hospitalized on pain meds and other supportive care while we try to help him.
It is likely that he will lose his leg and become a tripod
but the x-rays have been sent to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at the University of California at Davis to see if there are any cutting edge techniques that will allow him to keep it.
He has many months of rehibilitation and care to get better and stronger and ready to find his forever home. Donations will allow us to pursue the best medical care for him and provide him with a better life*
Umbrella of Hope is a 501(c)3 animal rescue that is run ENTIRELY by volunteers. We receive zero government funding and we save these babies by donations from people like you.
