Seed Money for the Bungalow Blooms Flower Farm

Alex Lekometros is an elementary school teacher turned flower farmer living in Houston, TX. Since 2018, she has grown flowers in just 379 square feet of her front yard. She utilizes her teaching experience to coach others to build their dream gardens and is known for growing distinctive flowers despite Houston's tricky climate.

This fall, she has the opportunity to build out a flower farm from scratch! This flower farm is designed to increase grow space for cut flower production, but also become a teaching space for workshops, a patch of paradise accessible to community members, and a space to further the work around learning and teaching sustainable flower farming practices in the south.

Your donation will be utilized to build out the farm: including 15 raised beds, built from hardwood cedar, filled with locally sourced organic compost and topsoil. The in-ground irrigation system will minimize the water utilized, and deliver both water and nutrients directly to the root systems while keeping the farm accessible to all peoples.

Our hope in building this farm is to keep local grown flowers and sustainable agriculture education financially and physically accessible to the entire Houston community and beyond.
