Burial & Funeral Expenses for Baby Lydia
Donation protected
On December 27th Lydia's mom, Allie, was diagnosed with severe pre-emclampsia where she was hospitalized due to her blood pressure going to high. She was 32 weeks and 4 days when admitted. She laid in the hospital bed day in an day out on bed rest, but it barely helped. The only solution to help her and Lydia was to deliver Lydia. On January 7th, 2019 a beautiful blond haired 4lbs 13.6 oz baby girl was born. She was perfect in every way shape or form. Knowing that Lydia was born at 34 wks and 1 day her mom knew she'd be in the NICU at Touro infirmary for several weeks to come. Lydia was only 4 days old when she received a phone call stating that Lydia was very sick and needed to be transferred to Children's Hospital for care. Once getting to Children's the doctors learned that Lydia had Necrotizing Enterocolitis. Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a devastating disease that affects mostly the intestine of premature infants. The wall of the intestine is invaded by bacteria, which cause local infection and inflammation that can ultimately destroy the wall of the bowel (intestine). Such bowel wall destruction can lead to perforation of the intestine and spillage of stool into the infant’s abdomen, which can result in an overwhelming infection and death. Lydia was sent in surgery in hopes that she could be saved. Less than 24 hours she passed away due to complications from the surgery.
Now her parents are faced with having to bury her with no funds available for this set affair. All the funds will go towards burial and the funeral expenses need to bury Baby Lydia. A plot has been donated by her Great-Grandmother, so she has a resting place. So all the funds will go to whatever else is needed to be paid for.
