Burial For My Son Desmond
Donation protected
Hello family, friends and caring hearts. My name is Carolyn Johnson.
On May 13, 2023 my son Desmond Crutchfield, departed from our home in Marietta, Georgia to Frankfurt, Germany. His deployment assignment was scheduled for six weeks, while employed by the United States Department of Defense. His accidental death occurred on May 20, 2023, at 12:10 am. I was not notified by his employer, The Sheraton Carlton Hotel or The United States Consulate.
On May 24th, 2023 Cobb County sheriffs came to my home, to give me a message regarding my son, Desmond Crutchfield. I was advised to contact the consulate of Germany office for information regarding the case number provided. Upon calling the German officials, I was advised that my son had passed away. I was devastated. Several weeks passed before I was able to locate his employer and find out who would be responsible for returning his remains to the United States.
AIG agreed and paid a sum of 17k to Aim funeral home for services and preparation for transport of Desmond's remains back to the United States. Unfortunately, my son's remains returned to the Woodstock funeral home decomposed. The funeral home in Germany failed to embalm him.
This unfortunate tragedy left us all devastated without having an opportunity for my family back home in the Bahamas to say their final goodbyes, view or even a proper funeral service. I would like to see all responsible parties be held accountable for this inhumane service. No human being deserves such treatment.
