Burial Fund for Hashim Ummi

Hashim was a very proud family man living with his youngest children in Las Vegas, NV. Hashim was a single father supporting his 16-year-old daughter and 19-year-old son. Hashim immigrated to the United States from Tanzania. He applied for US citizenship and did everything by the law to become a United States Citizen. He left the Tanzanian Police Force in order to do so, and the process took him almost 20 years to accomplish. Hashim suffered tragedy in 2004 when he lost his eldest son and his mother in the Tsunami that hit Tanzania. Hashim always looked to the bright side and you could always count on his booming smile. Hashim loved everyone and was a people person which is why he worked years in the airline and hotel industry. He was laid off during the shutdown due to COVID-19.

Hashim’s family was shattered when Hashim contracted COVID-19. He was taken into the ICU as his condition worsened and was placed on a ventilator. After a week of medical efforts to help him, the Doctors thought he would pull through and took him off the ventilator for a day, only to place him back on the next day. During that time Hashim slipped into a coma and suffered Cardiac Arrest, a complication of COVID-19. He passed away on April 27, 2020, while his children and loved ones had to stay a safe distance away.

Hashim is survived by his six children and a host of family and friends who will all miss him dearly.
Hashim was the only income for his family. His caring community members in Las Vegas, NV discussed the possibility of this crowdfunding with his grieving children, and they have agreed to take the broader community support for Hashim to lay him to rest and financially support his children who are now left with no income.
