Burkeville Lodge for the Blind
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit the Virginia Association of Workers for the Blind (VAWB) incorporated in 1919 to provide the blind and visually challenged the opportunity to become more independent through socialization and recreational activities. Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to me.
More information about Virginia Association of Workers for the Blind: To Meet The Personal And Recreation Needs Of Visually Handicapped Individuals In The State Of Virginia. The Burkeville Lodge for the Blind was opened in 1960 through the VAWB. Over the years the lodge has grown to a 32-bed capacity lodge and cottage with a swimming pool, fishing pond, walking trail, and a large gazebo. There is a small fee for the members for their room and meals. The VAWB is raising money for much-needed renovations on the lodge. Our current goals are to have the rooms meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act by updating all bathrooms to include the installation of handicapped commodes and walk-in showers, renovating a couple of rooms to make them private rooms, renovating the pool and the patio around the pool, replacing all fencing around the pool and the backyard of the cottage, and replacement of all floors to a durable waterproof laminate. The VAWB is a 501c3 non-profit organization, relying heavily on donations and fundraisers to keep the Lodge operating. Thank you for your support which will help us with our purpose of serving the blind and visually challenged.
