Burn Recovery - Nick Marescalco

Hello - I am Charlene Thomas, and I am starting this page to raise funds for my son, Nick Marescalco. On November 8, 2021, he had a catastrophic accident and was burned on 65% of his body. He was burned when gasoline in the garage caught fire, and he was burned, when he pulled the container away from the house. During his heroic actions, both his arms caught fire and when he pulled the container away enough and stopped, the gasoline splashed onto his right arm and leg. On the right hand, arm and leg, he has 4th degree burns and will require full skin graphs. His left hand, arm and leg have 2nd and 3rd degree burns, and will require some skin graphs. He has been in the hospital, and working through the process of using Oasis and Integra wraps (pig and shark skin) in hopes of rebuilding muscle and nerve tissue. This process can be slow, as the areas with 4th degree burns lost 60% of the tissue in those areas, and the rebuilding process can take several applications of these wraps. We don't know what his mobility on his right side (hand, arm and leg) will be at this point. Because we are only in the rebuilding stage, there is no way to know what the end outcome will be. One thing is certain, the rehabilitation for this debilitating accident could take many months before we know what his mobility and ability will be regarding the right side of his body.

 

The purpose of this page, is to raise funds to help support him, during this long and tenuous healing and rehabilitation. He will be unable to work, and I am hopeful to raise enough to pay his regular bills, find him new housing, assist with his child support payments and get him the aftercare and outpatient assistance he will need, when the time comes for him to leave the hospital.

 

The work that Nick normally does, is seasonal, and because of that, he was never able to save up any funds for emergencies. And honestly, no one 'ever' expected this kind of catastrophe. He is a loyal, hard-working, dedicated, spiritual and warrior soul. He is a father to his little boy, Grayson, who turns 3 in June. His little boy is his world and together with Vicki, they are loving and wonderful parents. He is kind, giving to a fault for those he loves, and a fierce friend. Right now, he is dealing with so much pain and suffering. And I am hopeful that this page will find kind, giving and caring individuals out there, who can send some love and support to a young man, who has a very long and hard road ahead of him. And I know that any support Nick receives here will take a HUGE weight off his shoulders, as he starts down this 'very' long road to wellness.
