Burnt out business owner and his human need help
Donation protected
Hi my name is Lawrence Dente. I began a small business, a tabletop game store in late 2019 with a tiny amount of capital and not the best credit. I've been dodging and weaving for nearly two years doing my best to adjust to an ever changing market, distribution problems and headaches that have no end. The best thing to come out of Covid was being able to be with my best friend Chavo every step of the way. Stressful days would come and I was lucky he was there so I could squeeze him for wheezy hugs or play with him when he would bark at me and make me take a much needed break. When I work 100 weeks, so does he and he never complains and is just happy to be with me. I've had him since he was 1 years old, a rescue from an unwanted family, he's been my best friend for 10 years. As windfalls and ups and downs came, I reinvested everything into the business. I paid myself just about the absolute minimum to survive in hopes that I could get ahead. I guaranteed paychecks for employees all of Covid to the best of my ability, laid no one off due to lockdowns, and even offered 401ks in a tiny game store with hopes of getting benefits one day. I believed hard work and treating people right was enough to persevere.
Things are the worst they have ever been now and I'm not one to ask for help or a hand out but we need it. Chavo can barely bite on toys and desperately needs dental work as he chokes while eating and I sit here kicking myself for not being able to come up ahead enough to take care of him. I have paid my personal rent all of Covid and only up to recently have I had a problem doing so. I'm trying to adjust my business so that I can have a steady livable cash flow and pay off existing debts, but am struggling to right the ship and time has been my greatest enemy. A series of ridiculously unlucky events have plagued me for months to which my good friend Jeff Kelton says "This would be unbelievable to hear as a story had I not been here the whole time."
This is what I'm hoping for in the form of help so me and my best friend can have some sort of normal life for the next couple of months, in order of priority.
1. $1500 for Chavo to get a dental operation and cleaning and hopefully any of his other needs in a check up.
2. $100 for 2 Months of food and maybe some toys and treats for Chavo.
3. $1600 which covers my personal rent for two months as I get back on my feet.
4. $300 for some groceries for me. There is a Chavo tax, and he will be guaranteed some of this as well.
I have been struggling to do one of these for months, but just couldn't ask for something so base as money for me or my business. After everything that's happened I want to make sure the best 13 lbs of dog I have ever met doesn't have to live uncomfortably as he stuck by me through the worst of times. Anything that is donated is greatly appreciated and anyone who knows me personally knows I would do anything for my best friend.
