Bus for the Students of Mapapa

Many years ago we were gifted a beautiful used, bus that has faithfully served our students and staff.

Monday through Friday our bus travels to four different villages. Starting with the first village, over two hours away, the bus picks up and bringing the children to school before heading out to the next village (approximately 45 minutes away). It then repeats the process to the remaining two villages (both approximately 45 minutes away) until all the children have arrived at school where they are fed a healthy breakfast and receive quality education before they return home.

Additionally, the bus is used to transport food and supplies needed to feed and care for all the children, teachers and staff needed to run such a beautiful, life-giving school.

Lately however the bus has begun to show signs of wear-and-tear, breaking down repeatedly making the transport of our students incredibly difficult. And without transportation, 99% of these children will remain in their villages without the food and safety provided by the school, remaining hungry and vulnerable until we are able to get the bus up and running again.

After months of exhausting resources, we have come to the conclusion that it would be more cost effective to purchase a new bus.

This would allow us to provide consistent transportation and care for the hundreds of students our bus serves on a daily basis.

We are estimating the cost for a new bus, along with funds to cover the cost of petrol and tire replacements throughout the year to be $80,000
