Busselton to Adelaide for IPF
Donation protected
Hello, my name is John Winchcombe, I have embarked on a journey across Australia, riding my bicycle solo from Busselton to Adelaide, covering over 2,700 kilometres much of it on Australia”s Nullarbor Plain, to raise funds to support research into, treatments for and support services for those affected by Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. IPF is a rare genetic disease diagnosed in 1,250 people in Australia each year.
In contemplating the ride, I have been inspired by my 97-year-old father's work on the construction and maintenance of the Eyre Highway in the early 1960s and have been fascinated with the Nullarbor and the challenge of cycling across it. The ride is expected to take between 30 and 40 days, depending on the wind strength and direction, and how well his body stands up to the challenge
Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis is a terminal illness close to John's heart knowing people and families who have been affected by the disease
Funds raised will be donated to the Centre of Research Excellence hosted by The University of Sydney Australia. The trip can be followed at
