Butch Harris Funeral Expenses Fund

Edward L. "Butch" Harris, Jr passed away suddenly Thursday evening (3.28.2019) after a brief illness. Butch was a long time East Carolina Council Scouter and lifelong resident of Belhaven, NC.  He graduated from East Carolina University in 1976 and returned home to Belhaven to teach in several public high schools in the local area as well as help operate his father's furniture and upholstery shop. When his father passed, Butch continued operating the shop on his own until recent years when health issues cost him his right leg just below the knee. Even after the amputation, he continued to work in the shop as best as he could until having to just recently shut the doors for good after 65 years as an independent eastern Beaufort county business.

Always one with a quick smile and a "never met a stranger" attitude, Butch touched many lives in eastern North Carolina, whether through his business, Scouts, or the Sons of Confederate Veterans organization. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Butch's family is now the ones in need. Butch leaves his wife of 41 years, Pat, with nothing more than Social Security survivor's benefits income and no life insurance. This GoFundMe account is to help pay the approximately $7000.00 in funeral expenses. Any monies received above actual funeral expenses will be gifted to Pat to help her get started on her life without Butch.
