Butch Needs Our Help

Donation protected
As some of you may know I (Ernie A.) lost my Mom almost 2 yrs ago to ovarian cancer. Then 3 months after she passed my father Bob (Butch) Stevens was diagnosed with liver cancer 2022. As most of you know my father has been in the hospital for 27 days now and his condition has not became any better. We initially took him in because he was delusional and could barely talk. I thought he had a stroke but once in ER the doctors told us that because of the liver cancer his liver began failing him and it was putting ammonia in his blood system which in turn was also destroying the functions of his kidneys.

I had to make a decision to get him on dialysis to keep him going but unfortunately after 4 sessions of dialysis his kidneys weren’t doing any better. So he was taken off dialysis. The team of doctors that he has spoke to us that it was time to give him into comfort care which means it was time to get him into a hospice faculty or home hospice.

This week I’ve spent hours looking and weighing my families options for hospice care for my Dad and come to find out it’s extremely expensive ($4,500 per month on top of caring fees) Given the fact my Dad has spent most of his retirement on my Moms medical bills and treatments almost two years ago he doesn’t have much to help himself out.

My dad Bob, has always been one to take care of others when possible and I believe that’s where I get it from. I’ve always been one to help others rather than to ask for help but the time has come that I’ve agreed with my friend Ricky Chu (whom I meet from Clippers basketball games sometime in 2002) to accept some help so here are. A lot things have weighed heavy on myself this January where it was supposed to be a happy new year and new beginnings but I could never imagine we as a small family would be here so quickly.

With getting him into hospice and also the grim outlook ahead of a funeral within 2 years of my Moms is going to be a huge financial burden on us as will his hospital bills not covered by insurance.

We as a family of 5 know how extremely difficult times are on other families right now but if you can and have the means to donate to my fathers aid it would mean the world to us.

Thank you all.

Love Ernie A. and family
