BUTTERFLIES (A Tale of Two Brothers)

Join Us for the production of Butterflies (A Tale of Two Brothers), a play turned live sitcom-style dramedy, that follows the lives of brothers DAVIS and ANTHONY as they navigate tough situations, with a light heart.

My name is Cyd and I am the writer and director of Butterflies. I am eager to announce the official fundraising campaign for this “LIVE TV” dramedy about life, love, humor, acceptance, stigma, and hope shared through the lens of two brothers – brothers with an unbreakable bond.

I am raising funds to produce the first three episodes LIVE this August 11th, 12th, and 13th in the Midtown, Atlanta community with plans for Global Streaming hereafter.

Butterflies is an inclusive, imaginative and enlightening production and the next chapter in LIVE TV. It centers around the lives of four characters, DAVIS, ANTHONY, SASHA, and NICK and uses music and poetry to express deep histories, friendships, and brotherhood. This dramedy will inspire us to transform pain into opportunity and love; stretch our minds to move past judgment and limitations; and encourage each of us to see and embrace the humanity in

everyone. I believe visual performance can be used to transform stereotypes, inspire creativity and provoke conversations.

WHO ARE THE CHARACTERS?

DAVIS (19 - 22) is a fresh young poet and college student who lives with his big brother.

ANTHONY (28 -33) is a hardworking “man's man” who knows a thing or two about the real world.

SASHA (25 - 27) is Anthony's long-time, on-again, off-again girlfriend.

NICK (19- 22) is Davis’s best friend since early childhood.

HOW WILL THE FUNDS BE USED?

FUNDRAISING GOAL - $25,000:

The funding raised for this LIVE TV dramedy will be used for the first 3 episodes and will include the cost of:

 Production, Sound and Lighting Design - $1,500

 Marketing (posters, flyers, stickers, ads, billboards, etc) - $1,500

 Cast and Crew (actors, cinematographers, stage managers etc) - $15,000

 Filming Location, set dressing and props - $4,500

 Merchandise (t-shirsts, hoodies, caps, baseball cards, cd's, etc) - $2,500

ADDITIONAL GOAL OF - $50,000:

Additional funding will be used to produce additional episodes, post-production, and soundtrack creation, film equipment, and film crew, exploring alternative distribution methods and filming locations.
