BUTTS! Help us make this "short" short film!

Hi Friends,

Rebel Minx is honored to be directing a SHORT film written by and starring our friend and fellow writer, Kent Rodricks.

"Butts" is an autobiographical piece about Kent’s day-to-day life as a 3’11” man navigating able-bodied surroundings, creatively overcoming all those human-made hurdles and obstacles and giving the proverbial middle finger to death and mortality. Sure, he might be small in stature, but Kent’s big in heart and always puts an entertaining and positive spin on everything.

We have known Kent for over a decade, having met through our Twin Bridges Screenwriting Salon led by Joe Bratcher and Judy Farrell. Friendship led us here, a dream project that we are all super excited to be making!

Kent was born with a condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as fragile bone disease where he stands 3’11” tall and stares at BUTTS all day. He wasn’t supposed to live past 12 years old, but over 100 fractures later, he’s still here and about to turn 56.

The film is a glimpse into his life in a funny and irreverent way and shares how Kent sees the world – mostly no different than the rest of us, just from a lower vantage point. Things are different and often more difficult to navigate, but Kent keeps it real and has found his flow with his signature sarcasm and sass.

We‘re determined to create the best short film we can, so we can honor Kent’s message, which celebrates how we are all different but also the same. Your help is so appreciated!

What we are doing with the film: Butts will be submitted to festivals around the world, like Clermont-Ferrand in France, Sundance, Tribeca, BFI London, SXSW, Toronto, ReelAbilities Festival, Superfest International Disability Film Festival, and many more!
