Help Us Save Carol's Life
Donation protected
We are fundraising to restore and save the life of our beloved Carol. She is our daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and dear friend. Her nickname, Care Care, is fitting because she is always the first to step forward to assist others experiencing a medical situation, on a construction project, or financially support those in need. If you have met Carol, you know she is the kindest soul and always lends a hand when people are in need.
If you know Carol you know throughout her life she has been an energetic go-getter, hard working person selflessly doing everything for everyone else. We called her our "Perky" and “The Energizer Bunny.” In her professional life she moved furniture, carried mattresses, and cleaned up after condo renovations. In her free time she was an avid hiker, gardener, backcountry canoeist, cross country skier, competitive swimmer, fisherperson and golfer.
About 1.5 years ago she started experiencing extreme pain in her sciatica and a significant reduction in her muscle strength. After visiting the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and Essentia Health in Duluth she was given a diagnosis of ALS and told to go home, make herself comfortable because there was nothing they could do for her. They said she’d never get better. You can see from these videos how difficult it is for her now, with simple tasks we all take for granted, for example getting up from a sitting position or walking even with a walker assist 100% of the time.
There have been advances on the periphery of modern medicine in the world of ALS and we refuse to stand-by while this diagnosis rapidly progresses. We began a journey to research where in the country medical professionals are doing Restorative Medicine working with patients who have been given this devastating diagnosis and implementing cutting-edge science in the fight against ALS. Fortunately, we found BodyScience, a medical clinic in Miami doing remarkable work with ALS patients and getting exciting verified and scientifically sound results. BodyScience; the bridge between pure science and the practice of medicine is led by Amy Jaramillo (https://www.bodyscience.life/amy-bio ) and her team of medical physicians. The focus at BodyScience is to identify the root of the problem and address it rather than treating the many heart-breaking symptoms such as muscle wasting, pain and weakness. Check out their amazing and exciting work here. https://www.bodyscience.life/amy-bio
If you’re interested in their testimonials you can visit Luke’s story at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=picxx8wWFnk
Of course this treatment is not covered by insurance so all expenses will be out of pocket. The first visit is 3 weeks at a cost of $7,500 per week plus testing and medications. Add travel, lodging and transportation and you can see it all adds up.
You may be asking, why should I contribute to this fund? First, of course is to restore and save Carol’s life. Her children and grandchildren need her. But beyond helping one individual you have the rare opportunity to participate in furthering the knowledge of cutting edge technologies and protocols that have the potential to save thousands of lives transforming the medicine of motor neuron disease one success story at a time. This is an exciting opportunity for all of us but we need your help. We are grateful to receive any amount you feel you can give and thank you for your generosity.
